    Marcia Louise Fudge is an American attorney and politician. Born on October 29, 1952, she currently serves as the 18th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Fudge is a member of the Democratic Party and represented Ohio's 11th congressional district from 2008 to 2021. She ran unopposed in a special election in 2008 to replace Stephanie Tubbs Jones after her death. Fudge was also the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus in the 113th Congress. Although she initially considered running for Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, she ultimately announced her support for Nancy Pelosi. Fudge's nomination as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development was advanced by the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs on February 4, 2021.
