Mario Mendoza
Mario Mendoza Aizpuru (born December 26, 1950) is a Mexican former professional baseball infielder and current manager of Saraperos de Saltillo in the Mexican League. Mendoza played nine seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily as a shortstop. He is best known for his career batting average of .215, which led to the term 'Mendoza Line' being used to describe a batting average of .200. Mendoza began his professional career in 1970 with the Mexico City Diablos Rojos before being signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. After his playing career, Mendoza went on to manage in the minor leagues and in Mexico. He is a member of the Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Fame.
