Mark Kelly

Mark Edward Kelly (born February 21, 1964) is an American politician, former astronaut, and United States Navy captain. He has been serving as the junior United States senator from Arizona since 2020, representing the Democratic Party. Kelly is a highly accomplished naval aviator, having flown combat missions during the Gulf War. He was selected as a NASA Space Shuttle pilot in 1996 and went on to fly multiple space missions, including piloting STS-121 in 2006 and commanding STS-124 in 2008 and STS-134 in 2011. Kelly's wife, Gabby Giffords, a former Arizona Congresswoman, survived an assassination attempt in 2011. Mark Kelly's identical twin, Scott Kelly, is also a retired astronaut.
