    Mark Pontius Biography
    Mark Andrew Pontius is an American musician best known as the drummer and founding member of the alt-pop band Foster the People. Born on January 3, 1985, in Florida, Pontius grew up drumming in garage bands and community groups. After graduating from Lyman High School in 2003, he moved to Los Angeles to study cinematography, eventually graduating from film school. However, Pontius decided to pursue a career in music and joined the indie pop band Malbec. In 2009, he became a member of Foster the People, contributing to their success until his departure in 2021. Pontius also made appearances on the GSN game show Extreme Dodgeball in 2004 and 2005.
