    Mark Smalley is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Born on 2 January 1965 in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, Smalley began his career as an apprentice with Nottingham Forest in 1981, turning professional two years later. He made a total of five appearances for Forest's first team before going on to play for clubs such as Birmingham City, Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient, Mansfield Town, and Maidstone United. Smalley made 167 appearances in the Football League throughout his career. His loan spell at Birmingham City during the 1985-86 season was particularly notable. Smalley's contributions to the sport have left a lasting impact in the football community.
