Martin Docherty Biography
Martin John Docherty-Hughes (born January 21, 1971) is a Scottish National Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for West Dunbartonshire since 2015. He is currently serving as SNP Defence Spokesperson. Born and raised in Clydebank, Docherty-Hughes started working at the age of 16. He holds an HND in Business Administration from Glasgow College of Food Technology (now City of Glasgow College), a degree in Politics from the University of Essex, and a master's degree from the Glasgow School of Art. Prior to his political career, he worked for West Dunbartonshire Community and Volunteering Services for ten years. Docherty-Hughes joined the Scottish National Party in 1991 and was elected as Scotland's youngest councillor to Clydebank District Council in 1992.
