Marv Albert (born Marvin Philip Aufrichtig) is an American former sportscaster. He is best known for his work as a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and is often referred to as 'the voice of basketball'. From 1967 to 2004, he was the lead announcer for the New York Knicks. Albert has extensive experience calling a variety of sports including basketball, American football, ice hockey, horse racing, boxing, and tennis. He has called eight Super Bowls, nine NBA Finals, and seven Stanley Cup Finals. Additionally, he has worked on the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and as a co-host and reporter for two World Series. Albert comes from a family of broadcasters, with his brothers Al and Steve Albert, and son Kenny also being play-by-play sports commentators.
