Matt Cooke
Matthew David Cooke, born on September 7, 1978, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played sixteen seasons and 1046 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). Cooke won the Stanley Cup in the 2008–09 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and also won the gold medal at the 2004 World Championships as a member of Team Canada. Throughout his career, Cooke played for the Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, Minnesota Wild, and Penguins. Known for his aggressive playing style, he was considered one of the NHL's 'pests'. Cooke's hits, including head-shots and knee-on-knee collisions, often resulted in suspensions and injuries. Currently, Cooke serves as the head coach of the Newfoundland Growlers.
