Matt Freeman, born Roger Matthew Freeman on April 23, 1966, is an American musician best known for his bass work with the punk rock bands Operation Ivy, Rancid, and as the frontman of Devil's Brigade. His bass playing style is considered atypical in the punk rock world, often incorporating scales and arpeggios instead of solely relying on root notes. Freeman's early influences include John Entwistle, bassist for The Who. In addition to his bass skills, Freeman has also taken on lead vocal duties in several songs throughout his career.
