Matt Kennedy
Matt Kennedy is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who played in the North American Soccer League (NASL), American Soccer League (ASL), and Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). In 1979, he signed with the Philadelphia Fury of the NASL but did not see any game time before being released. From 1979 to 1981, Kennedy played for the Philadelphia Fever of the MISL. In 1983, he joined the Carolina Lightnin' in the ASL, where he was the league's second leading goalkeeper. Although he suffered a knee injury in 1984 that initially appeared to be career-ending, Kennedy made a comeback and signed with the Minnesota Strikers of the MISL in 1986. He later joined the Wichita Wings in 1987. Currently, Kennedy serves as a coach with Vision Soccer Academy in Waukee, Iowa, and is also the head coach of Hoover High School.
