Matthew Paul Riley, born on August 2, 1979, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers. Riley attended Sacramento City College and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round of the 1997 draft. He showcased his talent with impressive performances for the Delmarva Shorebirds, Frederick Keys, and Bowie Baysox in the minor leagues. Despite a less successful stint with the Orioles in 1999, Riley remained highly regarded within the organization, earning the title of Orioles' top prospect in 1999 and 2000 according to Baseball America.
