Matthew Thomas Shea (born April 18, 1974) is an American far-right lawyer, pastor, and politician. He represented the 4th legislative district in the Washington House of Representatives from 2009 to 2021. In 2019, a report published by the Washington House of Representatives accused Shea of domestic terrorism in relation to his role in a series of standoffs with federal authorities. Shea also faced controversy in 2018 when he acknowledged distributing a four-page manifesto advocating the killing of non-Christian males in the event of a war. As a result, he was referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for investigation. Shea was removed as State House Republican Caucus Chair in 2019 for advocating violence against religious minorities and offering state surveillance of political enemies to hate groups.
