Matt Stone Biography
Matthew Richard Stone (born May 26, 1971) is an American actor, animator, filmmaker, and composer. He is best known for co-creating and co-writing the long-running animated sitcom South Park (since 1997) and the Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon (2011) with his creative partner Trey Parker. Stone's passion for film and music began in his childhood and high school years. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where he met Parker and collaborated on various short films. The duo gained recognition for their feature-length musical Cannibal! The Musical (1993). Stone and Parker moved to Los Angeles, where they wrote their second film, Orgazmo (1997), and soon after, South Park premiered on Comedy Central. Stone has full creative control over the show and has also written, produced, and starred in other projects such as South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999) and Team America: World Police (2004).
