Matthew Burt (born 1951) is a British furniture designer-maker. He runs a contemporary practice from a studio and workshop in Sherrington, Wiltshire. Burt's furniture designs are known for their structurally robust yet elegant and lean lines. His work has been showcased in various public exhibitions, including the OneTree touring show and a selection of work at the House of Commons in 2008. Burt's furniture combines science, engineering, mathematics, aesthetics, and metaphorics to create unique pieces. He studied Zoology at Reading University and later pursued furniture studies at Rycotewood College, Oxfordshire, while apprenticing with Richard Fyson in Gloucestershire.
