    Matthew Watkins Biography
    Matthew Jason Watkins (2 September 1978 – 7 March 2020) was a Welsh international rugby union player known for his role as a centre. Born in Newport, Watkins began his professional rugby career with Newport in 1997, scoring 35 tries in 121 appearances over five seasons. He then joined Llanelli and became part of the original Llanelli Scarlets regional team in 2003. Watkins achieved the milestone of 100 appearances for the region in 2007. He later signed with Gloucester, returning to Wales in 2009. With a successful rugby career spanning over a decade, Watkins made significant contributions to the sport before his passing in 2020.
