Max Wyman
Max Wyman (April 14, 1916 – February 9, 1991) was a Canadian mathematician and academic administrator. He served as the president of the University of Alberta from 1969 to 1974. Wyman was educated at the University of Alberta, earning his BSc degree in 1937, and later obtaining his PhD magna cum laude from the California Institute of Technology. He began his career at the University of Alberta as a lecturer in 1943 and eventually became a professor in 1956. Throughout his tenure, Wyman held various positions, including chair of the Department of Mathematics and Dean of Science. In 1964, he was appointed Vice President (Academic) and in 1969, he became the university's president. Wyman retired in 1974 and passed away in 1991.
