Megan Smith

Megan J. Smith (born October 21, 1964) is an American engineer and technologist. She is best known for her role as the third Chief Technology Officer of the United States (U.S. CTO) and Assistant to the President under President Barack Obama. Prior to her government service, Smith had a successful career at Google, where she served as a vice president, leading new business development and early-stage partnerships. She also held positions at Google.org and Google[x], where she co-created WomenTechmakers. Smith has a background in engineering and worked on early smartphones at General Magic. She is currently the CEO and Founder of shift7 and serves on the boards of MIT and Vital Voices. Smith's notable contributions include co-founding the Malala Fund and being named the first female U.S. CTO in 2014.
