Mel Gorham Biography
Mel Gorham (born Marilyn Schnier on October 27, 1959) is an American actress known for her roles in Wayne Wang's films Smoke and Blue in the Face. She was born in Miami, Florida and is of Cuban and Jewish descent. Gorham gained critical acclaim for her improvised rendition of Peggy Lee's 'Fever' in Blue in the Face. She also appeared in major film roles such as Curdled and Cop Land. Gorham was cast in the NBC sitcom Union Square, but was replaced after the pilot. After a hiatus, she returned to film with a role in Wayne Wang's The Center of the World. Gorham retired from show business in 2012 and currently resides in South Beach.
