Melissa Chan is a Chinese American freelance journalist known for her work in broadcast and print. She has contributed to notable publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Guardian, The Washington Post, VICE News, POLITICO, and Foreign Policy. Chan has extensive experience in television journalism, having reported for VICE News Tonight, Al Jazeera English, and presenting DW News Asia on Deutsche Welle TV. She has also appeared as a guest on CNN and the BBC. Born in 1980 in British Hong Kong, Chan moved to the United States at a young age and grew up in the Los Angeles area. She graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history and holds a Masters of Science in comparative politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
