Michael Crider

Michael R. Crider is an Indiana politician and Majority Whip of District 28 in the Indiana Senate. He has held this position since 2012. Prior to his political career, Crider served as the Director of Law Enforcement for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources from 2006 to 2010. He is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and the FBI National Academy. Crider has been involved in legislation regarding the regulation of ownership of large predatory animals. In 2021, he authored a bill that allows mental health professionals to diagnose and refer individuals for mental health treatment. Crider has received several awards for his work, including the 2021 Public Elected Official of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers’ Indiana Chapter and the 2021 Conservation Champion Award from the Indiana Wildlife Federation.
