Michael Flynn
Michael Thomas Flynn (born December 24, 1958) is a retired United States Army lieutenant general and former national security advisor. He served as the 24th U.S. national security advisor for the first 22 days of the Trump administration before resigning due to reports of misleading statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador. Throughout his military career, Flynn played a significant role in shaping U.S. counterterrorism strategy and dismantling insurgent networks in the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. He held various combat arms, conventional, and special operations senior intelligence assignments. From July 2012 to August 2014, he served as the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, becoming the first American official to deliver a lecture on leadership at the Moscow headquarters of the Russian military intelligence directorate GRU.
