Michael Hammond
Michael Hammond (born 1957) is an American linguist and professor at the University of Arizona. He is known for his research on meter and poetics, and has authored or edited six books on topics ranging from Syntactic Typology to Computational Linguistics. With over 40 published articles and presentations at more than 60 conferences, Hammond is a prominent figure in the field. He served as the head of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Arizona from 2001 to 2011 and currently sits on the editorial boards of several major journals. Hammond received his BA and PhD in Linguistics from UCLA, and has been a faculty member at the University of Arizona since 1988.
