Michael Lewis is an American author and financial journalist. Born on October 15, 1960, in New Orleans, he is known for his nonfiction work, particularly his coverage of financial crises and behavioral finance. Lewis attended Princeton University, where he graduated with a degree in art history. After studying at the London School of Economics, he began his career on Wall Street as a bond salesman at Salomon Brothers in the 1980s. This experience led him to write his first book, Liar's Poker, in 1989. Lewis has also been a contributing editor to Vanity Fair since 2009, focusing on business, finance, and economics. Some of his notable works include Moneyball, The Blind Side, and The Big Short, which was adapted into a film in 2015.
