Michael Oren

Michael Bornstein Oren, known as Michael Oren, is an American-born Israeli historian, author, politician, and former ambassador to the United States. He was born on May 20, 1955, as Michael Scott Bornstein. Oren has made significant contributions to the field of Middle Eastern history through his books, articles, and essays. Notably, he is the author of best-selling books such as Ally: My Journey Across the American-Israeli Divide, Power, Faith and Fantasy, and Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East. During his career, Oren has taught at prestigious institutions like Harvard, Yale, and Georgetown universities in the United States, as well as Ben-Gurion and Hebrew universities in Israel. He has also served as a Distinguished Fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem and a contributing editor to The New Republic.
