Mick Garris Biography
Mick Garris (born December 4, 1951) is an American filmmaker and screenwriter. He was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Van Nuys. Garris has made a name for himself in the horror film genre, particularly through his work in Stephen King adaptations. He directed the horror film Sleepwalkers, written by King and starring Mädchen Amick. Garris is also the creator of the Showtime series Masters of Horror and the NBC series Fear Itself. In addition, he has won a 1986 Edgar Award for an episode he wrote for the television series Amazing Stories, produced by Steven Spielberg. Garris has directed the web series Post Mortem and contributes to Trailers From Hell. He was also the co-screenwriter and executive producer of Hocus Pocus. Garris directed the 2011 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's novel Bag of Bones and the documentary film Pure in Heart: The Life and Legacy.
