Mike Scully (born October 2, 1956) is an American television writer and producer. He gained recognition as the executive producer and showrunner of the animated sitcom The Simpsons from 1997 to 2001. Born in West Springfield, Massachusetts, Scully had a passion for writing from a young age. Despite dropping out of college, he pursued various jobs before moving to Los Angeles in 1986. There, he worked as a stand-up comedian and wrote for Yakov Smirnoff. Scully's career took off when he joined The Simpsons in 1993, where he wrote twelve episodes and served as showrunner for seasons 9 to 12. During his tenure, he won three Primetime Emmy Awards. Although some critics questioned the quality of the show during Scully's period, he remains an active contributor to The Simpsons.
