Minnie Gentry
Minnie Gentry (December 2, 1915 – May 11, 1993) was an American actress known for her work on stage and screen. Born Minnie Lee Watson in Norfolk, Virginia, she began her acting career at the Friendly Inn Settlement and later performed in many plays at the African-American theater, the Karamu House. On Broadway, Gentry appeared in several productions, including All God's Chillun Got Wings, The Sunshine Boys, Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death, and Lysistrata. She also had roles in films such as School Daze, Def by Temptation, and Jungle Fever. Gentry made television appearances on shows like All My Children, Ryan's Hope, and The Cosby Show. She was married to Lloyd Gentry and had a daughter named Marjorie Hawkins. Gentry's great-grandson is actor Terrence Howard.
