Morgan Davis is a Canadian blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he later moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1968 and eventually settled in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2001. Davis gained recognition for his songwriting when his track 'Why'd You Lie' became a hit for Colin James and was featured on James' debut album in 1988. Another notable song, 'Reefer Smokin' Man,' is considered a blues cult classic. Davis released his self-titled major label album on Stony Plain Records, produced by Colin Linden. In 2003, his album 'Painkiller' won a Juno Award, as well as multiple Maple Blues Awards for songwriting, male vocalist, and producer of the year.
