Nathan Dean
Nathan Dean (May 9, 1934 – June 8, 2013) was an American insurance executive and politician. He served 15 consecutive terms in the Georgia General Assembly as Senator for district 31. Dean was elected to the Senate in 1974 and began serving in 1975. Prior to that, he served for 12 years in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1963 to 1975. As Senator, Dean represented Polk and Haralson County, as well as parts of Bartow and Paulding County. He was Chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus and a member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia. Dean was honored for his civic duties, with the Rockmart community center named after him and being named Senator of the Year by the Georgia Municipal Association.
