Neil Innes Biography
Neil James Innes (9 December 1944 – 29 December 2019) was an English writer, comedian, and musician. He gained recognition as a member of the comedy rock group Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Innes collaborated extensively with the Monty Python troupe on their BBC television series and films, earning him the nickname 'seventh Python.' Alongside Eric Idle, he co-created the Rutles, a Beatles parody project, and wrote the band's songs. Born in Danbury, Essex, Innes spent his early years in West Germany due to his father's military deployment. Innes had a passion for music, learning both piano and guitar. He attended Thorpe Grammar School and the Norwich School for his education.
