    Neil Darrow Strauss, born on March 9, 1969, is an American author, journalist, and ghostwriter. Also known by the pen names Style and Chris Powles, he gained fame for his book The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, where he shares his experiences in the seduction community. Strauss is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and has written regularly for The New York Times. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he attended the Latin School of Chicago before graduating from Columbia University with a degree in Psychology in 1991. Strauss began his writing career for Ear magazine and edited his first book, Radiotext(e), an anthology of radio-related writings. He later worked for The Village Voice as a reporter and critic.
