Nick Holmes

Nick Holmes, born Nicholas John Arthur Holmes on 7 January 1971, is an English singer known for his role as the lead vocalist of the British gothic metal/doom metal band Paradise Lost and the Swedish death metal band Bloodbath. Holmes formed Paradise Lost in 1988 when he and the other members were still in secondary school. Initially using a low, guttural death grunt, Holmes later transitioned to a raw and decipherable James Hetfield-like bellow. With the release of 1997's One Second, Holmes adopted a gothic rock croon as his predominant vocal style. Apart from his work with Paradise Lost and Bloodbath, Holmes has contributed to the British death-doom scene alongside bands like Anathema and My Dying Bride.
