Nigel Barber Biography
Nigel Barber (born November 7, 1955) is an Irish-born American biopsychologist and author. He emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1982 and received his Ph.D. in biopsychology from Hunter College in 1989. He taught at Bemidji State University and Birmingham-Southern College, focusing on subjects in biopsychology and evolutionary psychology. Barber's research interests include the evolution of altruism, the reasons behind facial hair growth in men, and the relationship between economic adversity and religious beliefs. He has authored several books, including 'Parenting: Roles, Styles and Outcomes' (1998), 'Why Parents Matter: Parental Investment and Child Outcomes' (2000), and 'The Science of Romance: Secrets of the Sexual Brain' (2002).
