Norman Armour Biography
Norman Armour (October 14, 1887– September 27, 1982) was a career United States diplomat. Throughout his career, he served as Chief of Mission in eight countries and held the position of Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs. Armour was born in Brighton, England, but grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. He graduated from St. Paul's School, Princeton University, and Harvard Law School. He began his diplomatic career in Austria and France before serving in the United States embassy in Petrograd during World War I. Armour's notable achievement was serving as the United States Ambassador to Canada. He married into Russian nobility and was known for his diplomatic skills and expertise.
