Omar Salim

Omar Gergely Salim is an American-Hungarian taekwondo athlete. Born on April 12, 2003, he is the youngest son of Gergely Salim, a former Olympic champion. In 2022, he became a Hungarian citizen. Omar achieved notable success in his career, winning the gold medal in the men's 54 kgs category at the 2021 European Taekwondo Championships. He also qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics through the 2021 European Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament. Despite participating in the Taekwondo event at the Tokyo Olympics, he was unable to advance beyond the preliminary round. Omar comes from a family with a strong taekwondo background, with his father, uncle, and training partner all having achieved significant success. He has also received support from renowned Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović in his training journey.
