Pam Smith

Pam Smith is a Professor of Nursing in the School of Health in Social Science at the University of Edinburgh. She specializes in research related to emotions and care within the nursing profession. Smith graduated from the University of Manchester with a Bachelor of Nursing degree and went on to earn a postgraduate certificate in adult education from Garnett College in 1973. In 1982, she obtained a MSc in Medical Sociology from Bedford College. Smith received her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from King's College London in 1988 for her thesis on the quality of nursing and the ward as a learning environment for student nurses. She has worked as a nurse and teacher in Tanzania, Mozambique, and Britain, and has also served as a nurse researcher.
