Pat Mahoney Biography
Pat Mahoney (January 20, 1929 – June 8, 2012) was a Canadian judge, politician, lawyer, and businessman. He served as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Calgary South from 1968 to 1972. Mahoney's election victory in 1968 came as a surprise, as he defeated the incumbent Progressive Conservative candidate by 756 votes. In 1970, he became parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Finance and was later promoted to Cabinet as a minister of state by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. However, Mahoney was unable to retain his seat in the 1972 election. After his political career, he practiced law and worked as a businessman. Mahoney passed away in 2012.
