Paul Boyle Biography
Paul Joseph Boyle is a British geographer, academic, and academic administrator. Born on November 16, 1964, Boyle served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, he held the position of Professor of Human Geography at the University of St Andrews from 1999 to 2014 and served as the Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) from 2010 to 2014. Boyle became the Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University in 2019. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh since 2006 and a Fellow of the British Academy since 2013. In recognition of his contributions to social science, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours.
