Paul Moon
Evan Paul Moon, born on 18 October 1968, is a New Zealand historian and professor at the Auckland University of Technology. He has degrees in history, political studies, and multiple postgraduate degrees including a PhD and a Doctor of Literature. Moon is known for his expertise in New Zealand history, specializing in Māori history, the Treaty of Waitangi, and the early period of Crown rule. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Society of Arts. Moon has written extensively on the Treaty of Waitangi and has authored biographies of Governors William Hobson, Robert FitzRoy, Hone Heke, and the Ngā Puhi chief. He has also published a notable book on the tohunga of the Ngāi Tūhoe.
