Paul Thornley
Paul Thornley (born April 15, 1944) is a former Canadian professional snooker player. In the late 1960s, Thornley was considered the best player in Canada, but out of respect for George Chenier, he did not challenge him for the Canadian title. Unable to sustain a living from snooker in Canada, Thornley ventured to the United States to play pool for money. In 1970, he reached the final of the Canadian Professional Snooker Association tournament but was defeated by Fred Davis. Thornley returned to cue sports in 1977 after a year-long break and turned professional in 1979. He participated in three tournaments during the 1979/1980 season, including the Canadian Open.
