Paula Barrett is a renowned clinician, scholar, and professor in the field of child psychology. With her expertise, she has become one of the top 1 percent of publishers in Psychology and Psychiatry internationally. Dr. Barrett is best known as the author of the FRIENDS Programs, a series of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) based programs that have been endorsed by the World Health Organization as best practice for preventing and treating anxiety and depression. These programs have greatly promoted resilience in families, schools, and communities. Currently, Dr. Barrett serves as the director of Friends Resilience Pty and is an Adjunct Professor at Edith Cowan University's School of Psychology. She was also honored with the Highly Commended certificate for the Human Rights Medal in 2009. Originally born in Angola, Africa, Paula Barrett moved to Australia with her family from Portugal in 1986.
