Peabo Bryson is an American singer and songwriter known for his soul ballads, often performed as duets with female singers. Born Robert Peapo Bryson on April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was raised on his grandfather's farm in Mauldin. Bryson's love for music was nurtured by his mother, who took the family to concerts of renowned African-American artists. He made his professional debut at 14, singing backup for Al Freeman and the Upsetters. Bryson's notable hits include 'Tonight, I Celebrate My Love' with Roberta Flack, 'A Whole New World' with Regina Belle, and 'Beauty and the Beast' with Celine Dion. He has also contributed to two Disney animated feature soundtracks and has won two Grammy Awards.
