Perry McCarthy

Perry Edward McCarthy (born 3 March 1961) is a British racing driver and former actor. McCarthy started his career in motor racing, working his way through the junior categories of Formula Ford, Formula 3, and F3000. He also competed in various touring and sports car races in the US. In 1991, McCarthy tested for the Footwork Formula One team and eventually signed with the independent Andrea Moda team for the 1992 season. However, he never made it into a race in Formula One. McCarthy is also known for his portrayal of The Stig in the first two series of the revamped version of BBC's Top Gear. He has also participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times between 1996 and 2003.
