Peter Chen
Peter Pin-Shan Chen (born 3 January 1947) is a Taiwanese American computer scientist known for his contributions to the field. He is the creator of the entity–relationship model, which he developed in 1976. Born in Taichung, Taiwan, Chen earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1968 and a Ph.D. in computer science/applied mathematics from Harvard University in 1973. He worked briefly at IBM and Honeywell before joining the faculty at MIT Sloan School of Management as an assistant professor. Chen later served as an associate professor at UCLA Management School before becoming the M. J. Foster Distinguished Chair Professor of Computer Science at Louisiana State University. He has since retired and holds the title of Distinguished Chair Professor Emeritus at LSU.
