Peter Gammons (born April 9, 1945) is an American sportswriter, media personality, and musician. He gained recognition as a longtime journalist at The Boston Globe, where he covered the Boston Red Sox extensively. Gammons started his journalism career in 1969 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked for The Boston Globe as a featured writer, covering the Red Sox from 1969 to 1975 and from 1978 to 1986. He also served as a national baseball columnist. Gammons is a recipient of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award, which recognizes outstanding baseball writing. In addition to his writing career, Gammons is also a musician.
