Peter Kent Biography
Peter Kent (born July 27, 1943) is a former Canadian journalist and politician. He served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Thornhill from 2008 to 2021 and was the Minister of the Environment during Stephen Harper's government. Before entering politics, Kent worked as the Deputy Editor of the Global Television Network. He has a diverse background in news editing, producing, foreign correspondence, and anchoring for Canadian and American television networks. Kent was born in Sussex, England and later moved to Canada with his family. His parents, both serving in the Canadian Army, settled in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Kent's father, Arthur Parker Kent, was a prominent journalist as well. Kent's younger brother, Arthur, is also a journalist.
