Peter Pocklington
Peter Hugh Pocklington (born November 18, 1941) is an entrepreneur and vocal advocate of free-market capitalism. He is best known as the former owner of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Edmonton Oilers, where he earned the nickname "Peter Puck". Pocklington gained notoriety for selling Wayne Gretzky, considered one of hockey's greatest players, to the Los Angeles Kings, a move that was met with criticism from many Canadians. His life experiences were chronicled in the 2009 biography, 'I'd Trade Him Again: On Gretzky, Politics and the Pursuit of the Perfect Deal'. Pocklington was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Basil Cohen Pocklington, an insurance executive who had immigrated from England.
