Philip Bretherton (born 30 May 1955) is an English-Swedish actor known for his role as Alistair Deacon in the British television series As Time Goes By. Born in Preston, Lancashire, Bretherton studied English and drama at the University of Manchester before pursuing a career in acting. He made early screen appearances in shows like Miss Marple and The Balance of Nature. Bretherton also had roles in popular series such as Rumpole of the Bailey, Coronation Street, Casualty, Footballer's Wives, and New Tricks. He appeared in an episode of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes titled 'The Problem of Thor Bridge' in 1990.
