Pierre Wolff

Pierre Wolff (1 January 1865 - 1944) was a French playwright known for his biting and ironic observations of contemporary life. Born in Paris, he was the nephew of journalist Albert Wolff. Despite an early flop with his play Jacques Bouchard, Wolff went on to achieve success with his subsequent works. His comedy The Secret of Polichinelle, centered around adultery, was particularly well-received and played in over 80 cities, including the United States. Another notable play of his was Le Ruisseau. In addition to plays, Wolff also wrote libretti for operettas. He had a significant impact on the theatrical landscape of his time.
