Preston Bradley
Preston Bradley (1888 – June 1, 1983) was an American clergyman, author, and lecturer known for his belief in the inseparability of ethics, religion, and economics. As a follower of Henry George, Bradley emphasized social justice, poverty, and civic wrongs as essential concerns for ministers. He founded and served as the pastor of the Peoples Church in Chicago's Uptown Neighborhood. Bradley was an influential liberal voice and reformer, actively engaged in various civic issues including conservation, arts, racial equality, and education. He served on the Chicago Public Library Board for over 25 years, and a hall in the Chicago Cultural Center is named after him. Bradley was born and raised in Linden, Michigan, and pursued studies at Alma College and a Flint law school while working as a weekend pastor.
